Another scan, MORE SHRINKAGE!!

HopeWhat a fantastic week we have had!! We just found out that Xalkori is still working for me and the tumours continue to shrink – slowly but surely!!! I am BEYOND grateful and this positive news continues to give me the hope that I will one day be NED (No evidence of disease!). Once again, we continue with this plan and we will reevaluate in a month or so. Dr. Laurie is keeping a watchful eye on my cancer and all we do now is wait while it shrinks. Once the pill stops working (which it will, one day) we can then determine what our next step will be. I can’t believe it has already been 7 months since I was diagnosed. Some days it feels as though this has been the longest 7 months of my life, other days it feels as thought it has flown by. All I know is that it’s amazing what you can “handle” once you are forced to do so. Here’s hoping and praying for many more continued months of “shrinkage!”

that there was lots going on in the world of “Lung Cancer Awareness”.

On Thursday, I spoke at the Ottawa Evening of Hope in Support of Lung Cancer Canada. It was a beautiful evening organized by the amazingly talented Louise Bowles and my family, friends and I had a wonderful time. We are certainly already looking forward to next year’s event! I was thrilled to be able to donate $5000 to Lung Cancer Canada on behalf of my “just breathe” bracelets and the Piloxing fundraiser hosted by Sarah Millar.

Don’t forget to get your bracelets here as they are only available until Christmas! All  bracelets are hand stamped by me for luck! I am proud to say that they have been shipped all over Canada, the United States, England, Sweden, Australia and France! I have already raised thousands of dollars for Lung Cancer Research and helped create awareness thanks to your generous support!!

Here are a few photos from the evening:

Dax and I had another great night out on Saturday when we were invited to the Ottawa Senators game to represent “Team Draft” and their “Survivor in Every Rink” initiative. What a fantastic idea on behalf of Chris Draft, former NFL linebacker, to help spread awareness about an incredibly underfunded disease.

A few pictures from the game. Thanks again #TeamDraft and #OttawaSenators!

Lastly, Cottage Blue Home has graciously took the lead in hosting a “White Lights Fundraiser” for Lung Cancer Research! Stores in downtown Cornwall (including Cottage Blue, Laser Advanced Spa, Oasis Hair & Day Spa, Dreamland, Kid’s Korner, Life’s Little Pleasures & ESCA) will stay open late on Friday December 11th, offer great discounts and contribute to Lung Cancer Research! It is just in time to finish off the last of your Christmas shopping all while supporting a great cause! Oh, and did I mention there will be Christmas carollers and white lights adorning the streets?! Dax, Jack and I can’t wait to get in the festive spirit and get some shopping done! Thank you to all who are participating and I hope to see many of you there!
